Relationships are an essential part of our lives and modern life and the demands of the workplace or family life can be demanding. All couples face challenges and how we deal with these challenges is vital if we want to maintain healthy communication, resolve conflict, that might have arisen and encourage intimacy.
Every couple is different and I can help you to recognise and understand the communication.
We will explore why you have come for counselling and may identify, certain cycles of behaviour which occur between you. Sometimes this will be related to experiences that you’ve each had in your past, understanding this can help you see how you can reduce the impact of the past on your current relationship.
This may include looking at various issues such as conflict, trust, behavioural, sexual, and emotional dynamics that might exist between you and your partner, and identifying how you relate to each other.
It may be that you’re not sure if you want to stay in your relationship, or you may be quite certain that you want to separate. Either way we can use the sessions to explore how you can cope with the difficult feelings you may be experiencing.
I have experience working with both straight and gay couples. Couples in short and long term relationships, and couples in monogamous and non-monogamous relationships.
As with individual therapy, your first appointment will provide an opportunity for you and your partner to discuss any issues within the relationship, identify any shared goals and begin a dialogue of open communication.
I work with family members, co-workers, best friends, and anyone else looking to seek major growth in relationship.
Call me for an initial chat and we can discuss your needs from there.
