I am a registered BACP Senior Accredited Psychotherapist/Counsellor with over 20 years experience working with a wide range of clients in charities/voluntary organisations, bereavement recovery and Global Employee Assistance Program.
My approach follows the humanistic or integrative model in that I draw on a number of different theoretical perspectives according to what resonates or feels most helpful to the client.
I approach my work with clients with integrity, compassion and an awareness and commitment to ethical and competent practice. I believe that primarily my role as a therapist is to help empower my clients as they discover, face and accept their reality, grieve their losses, and identify and take responsibility for their needs by accessing the necessary resources to help them, move forward and live more satisfying and rewarding lives.
I have experience supporting clients with a wide range of personal and work related issues.
I have a particular interest in Attachment Abandonment and Trauma.
Most of us will often come to counselling for many different reasons generally because we are seeking change – seeking to change ourselves or our situation.
If you’re reading this, you may be at a point yourself, and thinking about having some counselling.
You may be in a difficult situation in your relationship and looking for someone to help you and your partner find a way forward.
Whatever your motivation embarking on counselling is, it is important for you to find a counsellor you feel comfortable with. I hope that the following pages give you an idea of how it might be to work with me.
The first session provides an opportunity for us to meet in a confidential space, outside the day to day environment….. to feel listened to in a non-judgemental way.
To discuss any issue that may be troubling you, for me to find out a little about you and what brings you to counselling. You will get a clear idea of how I work and whether you feel I can help and to decide how you wish to proceed.
The combined experience of being listened to and a gradual process of new insight into your difficulties, provides clients to approach areas in a different way.
